H10 Big Sur, Tenerife

We previously stayed at another 4* hotel in Los Cristianos however wanted to try somewhere closer to the beach. This hotel is in an idyllic location, very close to the sea front & bars/shops/restaurants. Upon arrival we were greeted with a Bucks Fizz which was lovely after a morning of travelling. Every guest is given a wristband which is a room/door key and also for scanning when getting drinks at dinner or at the bar. There is also a guest only door to the promenade near the swimming pool, the wristband allows access to this to avoid having to walk the long way round to the hotel on an evening. The hotel operates a tab policy, which we were told guests are encouraged to settle up every 200 spend. Midway through the stay we wished to check what the running total was & the reception staff kindly printed the itemised total off for us. The double room was very spacious, bathroom decor was a little tired and could do with updating. Nevertheless everything was clean - rooms cleaned each day, two complimentary bottles of water provided daily. A sea view room is a considerable amount more when booking and for the time we spend in the room we stuck with the double however we may consider sea view for next time. The hotel supplies a good amount of toiletries in the bathroom including shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, shaving kit, toothpaste, sewing kit, shower cap, tissues. If I had known this I would not have packed shower gels/shampoo/conditioner, as the ones they provide were great and smelt lovely. Hand Wash & Hand Cream also situated next to the sink. Hairdryer provided. Bathrobe & Slippers provided for use in the room - slippers especially great for when sand trailed in the room following a beach visit. Would be good if the slippers were different sizes to fit all guests. Food was plentiful, however felt there was a wide variety of meat each day and less vegetarian options. Desserts were nice however quite a lot of repetition. Each day different food available to be cooked to order. Breakfast includes hot drinks, juices and cava. Drinks at evening meal are charged to room tab using wristband. Buffet area clean and replenished constantly, staff cleared plates quite quickly. Outdoor dining area is well maintained with a stunning view of the sea. We requested to swap evening meal to Lunch as part of half board however were told this is not possible as Lunch is La Carte. Facilities: - Sauna/Turkish Bath - no extra charge, needs to be booked in advance at reception - Pool Table - on the back side of the pool 2 per game - Bar - great choice of drinks/cocktails and decently priced too - Pool - plenty of seating around pool, however some days looked busier than others. Small jacuzzi also situated near pool - Buffet Restaurant - arrive at the start of the allocated time slot to avoid the rush. If you prefer to sit outside, would recommend doing this as the outdoor seating fills up quickly - Smoking - ash tray provided on balcony, emptied daily. Designated smoking area near pool with adequate seating - Entertainment - music until late, live singers. Good atmosphere and service quick on an evening too - Rooftop Sunbathing - sun loungers/beds on top floor with a full view of the sea - we saw a sign stating yoga sessions available in this area - Classes/Events - as you walk towards the pool area on the left there is a stand which is updated with flyers listing dates/times of events/activities planned - Gym - located near the spa, free to use, good choice of equipment - Mini Fridge - items within are chargeable however we found if you remove the two water glasses stored on the top rack of the shelf, the complimentary water bottle fits perfectly on the shelf - Safe - charged facility, we paid 13.50 for a 5 night stay - Room - cleaned daily, towels replenished. H10 branded towel for pool provided during stay, located in wardrobe on arrival - Convenience store - not associated with the hotel but there is a shop immediately next to the hotel with a red shop front - it is open till late and is slightly cheaper than the shops which are closer to the main beach We will definitely be looking to return to this hotel, we found the staff to be very friendly - facilities, atmosphere & hotel location are brilliant.

This was our 4th visit in 2 years. There isn't much I can add to all the positive reviews. The standard of the hotel and staff remains high This visit was for something special... My husband's 70th birthday. He had a lovely day thanks to the hotel and staff. He had a cake and bottle of Cava delivered to our room and was wished a happy birthday by resturant staff and guests - the "I am 70" badge gave it away!! Unknown to him we were joined by our son and girlfriend for the weekend. They enjoyed the stay and would possibly come back especially being their first time to Tenerife. Thank you to everybody at the hotel for making his day special.

This was our first visit to H10 Big Sur, we picked it because it is a relatively small hotel in a great location on the sea frount and adults only and it certainly did not disappoint. I believe all the bedrooms are similar. We chose one at front overlooking the carpark and hills . At times you got a fair bit of road noise so would recommend a sea view room. We stayed half board and thought the food was very good, always plenty of choice, in the main couldn't fault it. On an evening , we had planned to go out and sample the local bars, but the entertainment in the hotel was very good , so much so we stayed in to watch it for our full 14 nights. If we were to sum up H10 Big Sur in one word , it would be cosy. The seating in the restaurant was cosy and the sunbeds round the pool were cosy , all be it a slight criticism the hotel can't really do much about it. We met some great fellow guests and members of staff during our stay. Must give a special mention to our room cleaner , Sonia , not only did she do a great job on our room , but she is one of the most friendly , warmest people we have met , even singing to us every day. Thanks for the memories Big Sur , hope to return one day.

Short 4 night stay in superior room. The terrace was huge with comfortable sun beds & parasol. Welcomed with a glass of bucks fizz while checking in and the daily gifts left in our room were a lovely touch. Friendly helpful staff throughout the hotel. No sun bed wars around the pool and always plenty available. Restaurant had a relaxing atmosphere with a great variety of dishes and amazing puddings for those who have a sweet tooth. I especially enjoyed my glass of Cava with breakfast. I would definitely recommend this hotel if youre looking for a chilled holiday I will certainly be back hopefully this year.

The hotel was lovely we couldn't afford to upgrade to pool view, so our room looked out to front of hotel. Ours was a standard double which wasn't anything special. The pillows were awful very lumpy however the bed was comfy The pool was nice I liked the fact it didn't open until 9.30 so that stopped a few people putting towels on beds at stupid o'clock . Never understand why hotels allow that. Didn't like the fact you had to pay for a safe that should be free. Most staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was standard not much choice for vegetarians though The entertainment was a bit odd that it didn't start until after 9 and finished an hour later
